Once students begin attempting a viva, the viva overview is the cohort level view. It shows completion at a glance, surfaces flagged events, and links into individual reports.
Opening the overview
Open the relevant module from Modules in the sidebar, then select the viva. The overview page contains three sections: analytics, incidents, and the students table.

Analytics
The analytics cards summarise the cohort:
- Completion Rate. The percentage of students who have started and the percentage who have finished.
- Performance. Cohort level numbers including average completion time, average score, and counts of students above and below the 50 mark. These numbers are descriptive and are not a substitute for reading individual reports.
- Incidents. The count and category breakdown of flagged events, including technical interruptions, conduct flags, and proctoring alerts.
- Events. A timeline of activity across the viva: starts, completions, and incidents.
Incidents
Each incident in the section shows a reason, captured notes, a status, and a timestamp. Status values are pending, resolved, and dismissed.
Incidents are flagged for review rather than automatically adjudicated. Brief network drops, reasonable pauses, and tab switches all appear here, alongside conduct flags. The Session Replay can be opened from an incident to provide context, and the status can be set to resolved or dismissed once the event has been reviewed.
The students table
The students table shows one row per student, with columns for name, attempts, duration, incidents, status, grade, and completion date.

- Name. Selecting the student's name opens their most recent report.
- Attempts. Editable inline. The cell shows used attempts over the maximum (for example, 1/2). The plus and minus controls adjust the maximum without leaving the table; see Managing Student Attempts.
- Duration and Incidents. Descriptive. Outliers can be useful prompts for review.
- Status. Not Started, In Progress, Completed, or Missed.
- Grade. A pending traffic light from the draft report (Green, Amber, or Red), shown until the result is released to the student.
- Completion Date. The end of the attempt.
Expanding a row reveals every attempt that student has made, not just the most recent one.
Filtering and pagination
The table supports search and column filters, including filters for status. Pagination controls appear at the foot of the table for larger cohorts.
Bulk actions
Two bulk actions appear above the table:
- Publish All Results releases every completed attempt in the cohort.
- Publish Successful Results releases only Green attempts.
Detailed guidance is in Publishing Results.
