Before students can take a viva, the corresponding assignment is enabled inside the module. This is the first step when introducing Integrevise to a module, and the step to return to whenever assignments are added or removed.
What enabling does
Enabling an assignment creates a viva for it inside the module. Students see the viva on their dashboard, scheduled to the assignment's due date and linked to the brief, and the viva begins to appear in cohort progress and incident tracking.
The assignment in your LMS is unchanged. Integrevise reads the brief from your configured LMS (Canvas, Blackboard, or another supported system) and presents the viva alongside it.
For details on where to place the brief in Canvas, see Where to Place Assignment Briefs in Canvas for Integrevise.
Selecting assignments
Open the relevant module from Modules in the sidebar. The actions menu on the module's vivas list contains Select Assignment(s), which opens a dialog listing every assignment Integrevise has detected in the module.

Each row in the dialog shows the assignment title, due date, type, and current activation status. Active assignments are pre selected; clearing a checkbox and saving will deactivate the corresponding viva.
In the dialog you can:
- Select assignments to enable.
- Clear assignments that should no longer be covered.
- Filter the list with the search field.
- Use bulk selection when enabling several at once.
Saving the dialog provisions the vivas, which appear in the module's vivas list with default configuration.
After saving
On the teacher side, the vivas list updates. Each new viva starts with default settings: Interactive Oral, balanced scoring, 3 questions, Release Mode set to Immediately, and proctoring off. Settings can be adjusted before students attempt the viva; see Configuring Viva Settings.
On the student side, students enrolled in the module see the viva on their dashboard with a Scheduled status. They can open the viva, review the brief, and complete the setup checks when they are ready.
Adjusting the set later
The Select Assignment(s) dialog can be reopened at any point to add or remove assignments. Common situations include adding a new assignment created mid term, removing an assignment that was enabled in error, and enabling a resit or resubmission assignment.
Removing an assignment deactivates its viva. Completed attempts are retained in the system for record keeping; new attempts are not possible.
Before saving
Three points to confirm before saving the dialog:
- The assignments selected are the ones you intend to cover.
- The due dates are correct. Brief changes are made in the LMS rather than in Integrevise.
- Each enabled assignment has a readable brief in the location Integrevise reads. A missing brief produces generic questions.
Once the assignments are confirmed, Configuring Viva Settings describes how to set the session type, scoring emphasis, question count, release mode, and proctoring.
